Default Lightmeter

Hi CSers

Does anyone have a good light meter to recommend?
preferably can measure ambience and flash. My budget is around $500+ Main application is for potrait (indoor&outdoor), macro and hopefuli in the future can do landscape. I read a forum in here that say landscape requires spot metering right?? correct me if i am wrong. Thanks in advance

1st time i use Sekonic L-358, then upgraded to L-508 for spot metering and realize no need that much so back again to L-358.

the spot metering i can use my cam, more than enough can memorize as well.

OIC, yes, you need one.

But for doing close up with RB, you can’t just depend on hand held meter for exposure value, have to factor the length of extension tube or bellow also.

I use minolta and sekonic before, and still keeping the sekonic, both are good, but minolta is more expensive.

Default meter

all,

Minolta has a svc ctr in Funan and they give excellent service.
Sent my 10-20yr old Minolta 4 there for calibration.
Just a token charge. Or maybe free. Cannot remember.

Can put 5 degree or 10 degree spot attachments to Min 4.
Can also put a long bar probe attachment to Min 4 to measure exposure in cameras that use big bellows such as view cams.

Have Sekonic meter too. But personally prefer the Min.

I have not personally used the Autometer V before. But I have been using the Autometer IV and now IVf.

No problems so far. Returns rather accurate results. Moreover, I am able to add accessories such as changing the dissfuser to a spot meter (must buy seperately). Most of my fellow photographers use minolta. I am not familar wih sekonic.
