Default finepix F10

Hi People,

I am a newbie looking for a new camera and I found the finepix F10 very interesting for the low light performance. Have anyone have any experience with this cam or is there any english reviews up yet? Found a couple of Japanese reviews but hard to read.

It's ISO 1600 is about the same in terms of noise level to Panasonic FX7 at ISO 200 but lose out on details. We can also see this technology of noise reduction used in the S3 Pro which produce much lesser noise level compared to other DSLR.

how much is the F10 roughly? I'm lookin for a p&s to pocket 24/7 myself. Been looking at either the FX-7 or the Ixus 40. Now this fella pops up and gives a wide range of ASA speeds! If anyone has tried it, how does it handle? Is it as responsive as say the Ixus 40 or the FX-7? Image quality, handling and responsiveness quite important to me...as I'm used to dslr...:P

are you sure FX7's ISO200 is equivalent to F10's ISO1600?
Look at samples http://forums.photoi.org/showthread.php?t=976601
FX7's ISO400 is crap compared to F10's.

That is my opinion from what I see from that review. You do not need to agree with me.

F10 is available at MS Color and Alan Photo.

MS Color quoted me over the phone, $580 w/o GST. Comes with cam case, mini tripod and backpack.

Alan Photo quoted me $540 w/o GST. Comes with cam case only. Sounds better cuz I have no use for that mini tripod and backpack.

Song Brothers Jurong Point branch quoted me ard 680 and no free gifts somemore haha...the guy said its becuz F10 is a new model

Hmm sounds like a great price for a 6 megepixel SuperCCD camera with great ISO performance. Tempted siah

sorry for being lazy to search (i'm on a bloody slow PC and my connection has sucked since yesterday) but is the F10's 6mp really 6mp or is it after being run through Fuji's patented super size me process?

F10 has a 6 million effective pixels SuperCCD.

That means it is able to output a 12M picture size, but i guess now Fujifilm doesn't make this image size chooseable anymore.

here is a link to a pretty good review of the F10.

http://dc.watch.impress.co.jp/cda/re...2/28/1042.html

can more experienced guys take a look at the sample pics and tell me how is the ISO noise performance of the F10? maybe like when compared to a DSLR. how close/far is the performance? Is the fine details in the pictures preserved at higher ISO of 800?

If only fujifilm has combined its sensor with Panasonics FZ5 lens and OIS, we can have a killer P&S. Now I have to decide on the F10 or FZ5.

I'm itching to buy it. The high ISO performance seems better than 300D and D70 .

I'm in Japan now and I just tested out the F10 at Bic Camera. The shutter response was very good. In low light (without flash) there was no shake and it captured moving objects very well. The body is nice and light too. It's retailing here at 47,800 yen, (about S$750).
I'm really tempted to get it at the 500+ price somebody posted.

yes, it's really one good P&S to do ISO 1600 so clean, more samples:
