Default Please post your site performance feedback here

We are continuing to monitor and tweak the site (and server) performance and appreciate members feedback on this. It seems that not everyone is seeing the increased performance, especially at the critical hours.

The new server is definitely much faster (at least 10-15x faster, so it may not be a server issue), and now we are looking at other potential bottlenecks along the path.

Please include the following information in your post

1. Date/Time of slowdown
2. Type of Internet Connection : ADSL/Cable/Dialup
3. Speed of Internet Connection
4. Direct Connect or via Router/Gateway
5. Browser

For Item #4, please indicate if the modem is attached directly to your PC, or if you are going through an ADSL/cable router/gateway.

Thanks in advance for assisting us in providing the best possible experience in ClubSNAP!

I'm on SCV and experienced slowdown on some other sites yesterday night as well, not just clubsnap. So to me, yesterday's slowdown may not be the clubsnap server's fault.

1. Date/Time of slowdown : 10:00 to 12am (Virtually takes 5-8 mins for a single page)
2. Type of Internet Connection : ADSL (Pacnet)
3. Speed of Internet Connection : 512 kbps
4. Direct Connect with PC / Wireless with iBook
5. Opera / SAFARI

I went to surf my website and others.....at 10pm-12am no such problem. It ALWAYS starts at 10pm....sometimes 9.30pm sometimes 10.30pm (Intermittent). So the problem starts when CS members starts to increase to 350-400, which is the super peak hours from 10.00pm-12.00am.

Check with my neighbour who uses Starhub 3000.....sama sama problem. Check again with another friend who uses Singtel.....also sama sama problem. I am no computer person but i am just making a wild guess about the bottle neck on the server....too narrow?

jason - think the servers need a wee bit more tweaking. at the point of writing this, there are 627 users online. still slow, but compared to last time, at least this page appear...

I guess it may have to do the database server. Although only max 600+ users online there are many posts at the kopitiam. Perharps the ratio of posts at kopitiam is 2:1 against all other forums at its peak. You just need to look at the number of views for the SGD1000 thread and the number of replies (there are other more popular threads IMO). Here is same thing as last time in HWZ (sorry I have to mention this), web server is not overloaded but the SQL server (database server) and they decided to load balance the SQL server instead.

1. Date/Time of slowdown: 10pm-12am
2. Type of Internet Connection: Pacnet ADSL
3. Speed of Internet Connection: 1500kbps
4. Direct Connect or via Router/Gateway: Gateway
5. Browser: Firefox

Server quite fast now.......not sure about others.

Thanks for CS Admin for their hardwork, especially Darren, Simon, Jason.

You forgot the most important Admin - Edmund - who tirelessly installed the new server and has been tweaking and configuring it since then.

Please continue to provide us with feedback (good/bad) for the time being.
