Look like power overload. The cable rating cannot take the large current anymore.
Too many people in the train ?
Better take bus than train if possible ...
    More to come for sure.

In my company, when our designers designed a product, we know something is going to happen, there are telltales sign that the design is gonna fail, and we warned the designer then the management, they turn us down saying that we do not have data to back us up on our claim. Then things happen and entire production line had to shut down. And you think that is the end of the story... no... it goes on and on and on and on with every single products... and everyone like to use this excuse, "No choice lah."

Well... we are a small company and we see this occurence every single day, what about an entire nation or a massive company like SMRT? I do not believe that the engineers do not know that using a freaking cable tie to tied the freaking cables is not going to be stable, but they still do it. Look... we use cable tie to tie some of our cables in the speaker system, but those cables are so freakingly small and the vibration in the speaker is not big... unlike the freaking MRT train.

    So... yeah...
I really think if you get the product out after all issue is solved, it will be better for your brand image and lesser disruption and should lower cost too.......

Anyway... I know this is the real world.... but it also translate into lowet quality product and brand image......

May I ask what products are you referring to for your company? If it is not convenient to say, is all right. ......

Sorry bro... not too convenient to say, I still need this job But I believe it will be the same everywhere else. It is all cost cutting nowadays... so we engineers are getting pretty innovative nowadays, dealing with half baked designes and still searching for cheap solution that might or might not work while in the production line.

No problem.... I'm just curious the management will push such products out.... qc is an issue and if mass production, sure have more trouble with failing unit... and more trouble ahead with replacement. ... isn't it better to get it right first time.....

Innovative engineers... I think of the wonderful cable tie.... lol....

Not to forget Canon's black tape solution for their 5DmkIII

Actually they are not the first one to use that solution. We have been using it for ages... one of the innovative solution that we found when one of our product failed big time in the production line and we are almost behind schedule.

They should change the name to magic tie....... for all occasions..... just thought of a crude use of it.... pardon my joke if you find it offensive....

In the event you need a condom.... just combine it with some clean wrap...... there.... you have it.....

We engineers also used cable ties and duct tapes on aircraft. The latter are used on non-structural components to temporary seal up superficial composite delamination, cracks and dents etc. etc. in the skin of an airframe as per strict compliance with the aircraft manufacturer's Structural Repair Manual (SRM) but people thought the aircraft is falling apart.

Some other "shortcuts", I rather not say. When we raise an issue of critical importance especially thus resulting in arrows flying everywhere, management who prioritise bottom line over the importance of engineering safety and hazard / risks management or mitigation sees us as barking and quacking.

Ai yah, it is the same everywhere lah. Even in multinational agencies, corporations and organisations whom I had or am currently working for with a strong emphasise on the excellence of a superb safety culture with an anonymous whistle blowing policy in place eventually Normalization of Deviance (NoD) creeps in time and time again, slowing coming into play due to the nature of the imperfect human being until something of consequential arise and develop then the cycle repeats itself again.

Just reply that you will follow ethics and issue or declare A/c unsafe for flight and must ground...see how fast they respond ...

Unfortunately in every profession, there are bootlickers around whom are willing to do the dirty job of putting their signature on the line against their conscious (or a lack of) when called upon if required without fear (or thought) of any consequences and remorse whatsoever. No one is truly, truly indispensable.

With that said, for any inoperative (inop) and missing equipment(s) and item(s) present before a commercial (or revenue) airline flight, flight crew and Line Maintenance (LM) personnel must make reference to the manufacturer’s Master Minimum Equipment List (MMEL) / Configuration Deviation List (CDL) and respective airline’s Minimum Equipment List (MEL) / Configuration Deviation List (CDL) to determine its go / no-go criteria(s) and can only clear and release an airworthy aircraft for operational service in accordance to them.

See that insignificant ashtray in the lavatory, absolutely no-go for dispatch as per MMEL / MML if missing for several days until replaced and if anyone ever report to the flight attendants that they saw a rodent scuttling pass them in the cabin... Ho! Ho! Ho! Grounded permanently until further notice.

buy Sbstransit better . newer infrastructure in NEL, large bus fleet.

and no crazy and ugly ex CEO who don't know better to partition the company into a retail division to drive rentals while core train operations and maintenance are kept up to scratch .

and then there is the capital injection from the government .
