    Hey,

I know that Cannon is well known for it's Digi SLR, however Panasonic Lumix uses the well known Leica Lenses.

What are you talking about? Comparing DSLR, SLR lens or compacts?

I'm looking to compare Cannon lenses (like the ones that come with the 350D) and the Leica lenses for panasonic lumix

No it's a prosumer but it uses Leica lenses which are suppose to be very good.. so just wondering if the the cannon lenses are just as good or better.

btw, is spelled as Canon not "Cannon" (dua pao)
Comparing lens is meaningless. A good photograph depends on lots of factors.

The Panasonic FZ20 w/Leica lens is quite a capable camera.
However, the Lumix have its limitation if you intend to go very far.

Canon and Nikon are well known brand for cameras, esp SLR class. But their lens price don't come cheap. So the choice is up to you and depend the capacity of your wallet.

Useless comparison and not relevant at all.

Canon lens at best can probably resolve 80-100 line pairs per mm depending on which lens, which translate to about 5000dpi of details technically. With the CCD/CMOS size of those Panasonic Prosumer, which is like 5.76mm x 4.29mm (taken from here), it would need Leica to produce a 400 line pair per mm quality lens in theory to produce the same amount of details.

But if you are talking about real 35mm SLR/rangefinder lens from Lecia vs Canon's best, I bet my money on Leica as they are hand made and old design (which also last longer).
