Default Eygpt 2004

These pics are long over-due

I was in Eygpt from Dec 2004 till Jan 2005. Was there for 23 days. The place is beautiful -> sleeping under the stars and watching the sun set in the desert plains.

Anyway, these pics are 3 months late. But late better then never

I took over 5k pics so these are just a selected few. I will post more IF youguys wanna see more.

Enjoy.

The last pic is amazing... how did u manage to get such a even exposure with such high contrast elements (dark sky with fire on the ground) in the picture together?

Nice photos, not the usual ones, especially the one with blue sky and camp fire. But where are the pyramids, the camels and the sails boats pics?

Hello Allan,

yeah, actually I was gone for slightly more than 4 weeks. I was in Ho Chi Minh for 7 days before flying off to Eygpt. I was only back in SIngapore for 11 hrs :P

I didn't really have nice pics of the pyramids as (1) the place was crowded with millions of tourists & (2) It was already mid-afternoon when I reached -> the lighting was harsh and flat.

Lets see....
Lens: 17-35mm F/2.8 D
Local Length: 17mm
Exposure: 30 sec - F/6.3
Sensitivity: ISO 1000

I had abit of luck with this pic.

(1) The sky was clear of clouds so I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a dark sky. Only the stars would show up.

(2) There was a huge moon that lit up the desert plains, thus the ground features were lit.

(3) I had to balance between over-exposing my 'camp-fire' & my foreground. If I expose too short, my foreground wouldn't turn out. Too long, my 'camp-fire' would burn. Thus, there was several trial and error.

(4) Not to forget, I have to try to focus manual as it was too dark for the camera to make out anything.
