Its a stitched pano, otherwise known as Brenizer technique (popularized by Ryan Brenizer).
Upon stitching my first trial shot, my thoughts immediately think of how the FA50 would actually look (almost like this) on FF.
"Well there are FF cameras already available from another brand" the cynic might say
Yes, but not at this size of a lens (smaller and there are lots of such smaller lenses on Pentax) and not the same rendering/contrast and richness of color that I'm seeing here.
I'm thinking of how the Ltds would look with this technique.....

If a Pentax FF does come out one fine day, I'm sure the existing lenses will be at least 1.5x better

Technical part, I've got lots to learn and improve on.
9 frames don't often cut it.
Some trials, I have gaps in the stitch.
The shots also end up being in square or portrait like format due to lack of shots taken on the left and right sides.

Those interested in this technique, why not try and post samples here and we can discuss?
(ie. lens used; aperture; shooting method; etc)
Thanks JK for sharing, it does look really nice

what the focus distance when you take it? all shoot wide open? portrait/landscape?

square format is just perfect IMHO, make the subject really pop up like those pics taken with rolleiflex

Thanks. Still lots to try out and refine.

I think it will work wonderfully for you since you do model shoots and have the lenses to pull off shallow DOF shots.

    I shoot in portrait orientation.
The first frame will have to cover the whole person as my children keep moving about unlike adults.
I make sure that they are centered within the frame cause some of the sides will be stitched up in PP.
    Focus distance maybe about 3m.
Aperture this time was f1.8, I like stopping down slightly as a habit since I find that it improves contrast/sharpness/CA/etc a bit better than just wide open while not giving up the shallow DOF that much.

Yeah, squarish format reminds me of 6x6 too.

I think perhaps a bit more DOF may not be a bad thing with this method to make the bkgnd more recognizable which can sometimes help to give more 'pop' to the subject.
So I've got a few more settings to try out for sure.

thanks JK, will try your method

I guess with 85mm will need more than 9 frames to stitch

My way of Pentax marketing. at least now over 21 photographers using other system will have a Pentax logo deeply imprint to their photos.
