    Y.E.S 93.3FM, Singapore’s Number One radio station is working with the Recording Industry Association (Singapore) to present Singapore Hit Awards. This event will be held on Sunday, 1 September 2002, 7.00 pm at Hall 602 of Suntec Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Centre.

    A hallmark event of the Chinese music industry in Singapore, the Singapore Hit Awards brings together some of the best local and regional talents. Since 1993, the star-studded annual Awards has been well received by Singapore audience and this has helped develop the singing careers of local artistes such as Stefanie Sun, Kit Chan, Tanya Chua and Mavis Hee.

    This year’s award categories include: Best Album Production, Best Local Lyrics, Best Local Music Composition, Best Group, Best Local Act, Best New Act, Y.E.S. 93.3FM Most Popular Song of the Year, Best Selling Album, Best Selling Male Artiste Album, Best Selling Female Artiste Album, Best Selling Group Album, Best Performing Regional Male Artiste, Best Performing Regional Female Artiste, Honorable Music Award, Most Popular New Act, Most Popular Female Artiste, Most Popular Male Artiste and Best Potential New Local Act.

    Best Potential New Local Act is a newly created award. It is jointly presented by Y.E.S 93.3FM and RIAS to acknowledge and groom new talents in the local music industry.

    Together with RIAS, MediaCorp Radio hopes to advance the music industry in Singapore so that we can support a viable and vibrant recording industry. Another objective is to educate the public that piracy kills the music. Working with MediaCorp Radio, RIAS would like to reach out to the general public through this award event to gain support to fight against piracy.

    Singapore Hit Awards tickets are priced at $30, $50 and $80. Tickets will go on sale from 5 August at all Ticket Charge outlets.
