Default 3rd Party Lens hood unable to snap on to Lens properly?

I had purchased a 3rd party lens hood for my EFS 10-22mm lens, EW83E.
It snaps on fine on my EFS10-22mm & also the EF17-40mm lens well.

but I had wanted to use another lens hood for my EF 17-40mm, which some webby link mention the EW83J(for EFS-17-55mm) & EW83H(for EF24-105mm) is also an alternate choice.
I had purchased from eBay 3rd party, but can't seem to snap on properly

so I were to get the orignal hoods from Canon, will it able to snap on properly?

    the orignal EW83E & 3rd party EW83E fits my EF 17-40mm & EF-S 10-22mm. but somehow the 3rd party EW 83J & 83H doesn't seem able snap on. should I get orginal EW 83J to try?

From your posts, I see that you are using the 17-40L on a crop body. Yes the EW-83J will fit because the 17-40L is like a general purpose zoom lens on crop body.

But if you were to use the lens on a FF, there will be dark corners caused by the hood because the 17-40L is now a UWA.

    Just FYI.
