Default Nikon 5900 looks good!

I've just seen the Nikon CP5900 5.1MP compact digicam. Looks very fast and the screen look simply superb. The Grip provides a very secure hold on the camera. The GUI looks simple and clear. I'm not sure about the output, as I don't own a SD card.

Was quote around $600. Anyone have a better offer? Anyone bought it yet?

Yes, this camera is seriously good, the AF speed at wide-max zoom is FAST. Unbelievably blazingly fast, even in macro mode.

The shutter release was also fast enough to capture some images whilst I was in a car. The large 2" screen also provide ample viewing space for those old folks (like me ) who can't see clearly anymore.

GUI is simple and navigational from the command dial located right on top of the right side of the camera where the shutter is, there are various modes as like the Canon A series and also the face priority mode that focuses on faces.

The best part is for a 5MP camera, it's RRP is $699!!!! Can't wait till IT show to see if I should get one!!!

5900

Which would you get?? A new 5900 5MP or a 2nd hand Sony 828 8MP at good price. It's really tempting to get both... hee, but I'm afraid that the 828 doesn't have much resale value.

828 too bulky for me, I'm aiming at something smaller that can be brought easily around for snapshots, so the 5900 would be my choice. Just wished it used CF though

Was down at the IT show today and tried out the 5900.. i must say it blew me away.. it's solid, it's fast!! and the picture quality seems alright.. macro is nice at 4cm.. flash doesn't overpower..

And the video mode is 640x480 at 30fps!!! I wonder what i can do w 1 gb card..

Was hesitating too much, now that the IT show's over, can anyone tell me where the best deal for this camera is? seems like a lot of shops dont carry this model.. the only one that has it don't have the Blue colour..

anybody knows what's better than this for ard $600?

Hehee.. keep a look out, I should be able to get the same deal as IT Show, if not slightly less freebies. I left early today, didn't stay till 9, but I believe there should be stock left still
