Hi All,
Pls advise how you estimate the distance of the strobe from the camera as shown in the pic; assuming the subject is 1m or 0.25m. thanks in advance............ ![]() |

hi h2o ...
i dun do wide angle uw photography, yet, since i was strobeless just thinking there are too many blank spaces in your questions your one metre 1. you mean the subject distance from the camera, or the length of your subject? 2. what type of strobe are you talking about? coverage matters, and vasts differently between strobes with different capacities. 3. strobe placement is not limited to the placement that you have illustrated in the diagram. you can tilt the strobes inwards, outwards, strobes can place up and down 4. i take it that you are talking about wide angle uw photography. perhaps the nature of the subject, and the effect that you wanna achieve should be included, to see what kinds of strobe placements may be possible. 5. you seem to have some wide angle uw photos decent enough that makes me wonder why you need to ask this question 6. last but not least, allow me to point you to our interesting articles sticky thread, which has an article about Strobe Placement |

hi all,
my apologies for the confusion in my question....... generally i would like to know how far you would place the strobes from the camera assuming if the subject is 1m from the camera............is there some method u use to arrive at the placement; some scientic method or just plain old aga-ration...........the lens i have now is 20 mm.... i am getting another strobe which is the sea & sea ys 120....according to the manufacturer specs, it has a coverage of 105 degrees.....i would like to set up my strobe as shown in the pic first to try to get the hang of using 2 strobes.... it is possibly the most easy way i know of...that will reduce backscatter and the accuracy of lighting the subject shouldn't be too far off.....thou it may seem flat...well, will have to be more experimental as i get more proficient.....for now, i would like to master the accuracy of lighting the subject..... ya generally i intended the set up for wide angle... thx for the sticky beivied...it is very informative Last edited by h2o; 8th March 2005 at 01:08 AM. |
