My plant is in bloom!

I dunno what the plant is called, but it is commonly called as air plants(or something like Tillandsia)... does not require soil to grow... Was pleasantly surprised to see it in bloom recently!

Here is another picture, just for laughs!

Going to be OT: Wow!! I have not seen tillandsias bloom in cultivation by non-experts (I am assuming you are not a professional botanist :P). Did you do anything special to 'stress' your plan? E.g. deprive it of water, strong light, etc.?

Actually, I think it is a very hardy and low maintenance plant! I don't have experience in keeping plants, but I bought it about a year ago, I think, thinking how beautiful and exotic it looks... I just hanged it on the balcony in bright shade and water every alternate day or sometimes daily if the weather is too hot... Slow growing but when it starts to blossom, the bud suddenly accerlerates untill in bloom...
