Have to learn the new metering, takes a bit of getting use to,
getting the hang of it, under to most, but I like it.

1.5 crop factor made my 17mm not so cool anymore.

The LCD is a little to small to see details because sometimes I tot my picture was alright on the screen but after downloaded, realized that the image was blur

I lurve the 1005pixel 3D Matrix Metering, the flash system (CLS + i-TTL), the ability to use the scenes and also yet provides the standard P A S M modes, ease of changing most of the settings via a turn of the dial + other button. The speed of RAW writing is also supberb, compressed RAW at 4.3MB ea is fastly written like a rocket.

The 'buffer' for JPEG goes up to 140+ if you use a fast card and does continous firing at 3 fps. Not forgetting the ability to upload custom curves and the prevent of overblown highlights and also the flash sync speed of 1/500 that does wonders.

And for a cheap DSLR it comes with it's own LCD screen protector!!!!!

i love the D70 with its fast write times and also, very noticeable when compared to others is the read time! scroll thru ur images in quicktime without any lag and zoom in and out in 'real time' too! haha

another thing that's great about it is the long battery life. you can take over 2000 shots with it without using flash of course... one charge is more than enough for a whole day's shoot.

for rants... not much. 3fps is pretty fast, but if you want higher, then i guess u can complain. for the price, its just about the best dslr you can buy!

Great Camera, excellent Kitlens.

Fast operation.
Pretty good metering. If you shoot raw, I think you will appreciate how the D70 preserves the highlights.

Best of all alot of custom features.

Only cons i feel is the lack of the grip. But not a big deal.

Use of spot metering is good. Sometimes I can get conned by the matrix metering. WB set to cloudy for outdoor and even with flash indoor -- looks good and warm.

There's a grip available frm harbortronics - expensive thoug... $165 USD w/o shipping too. Holds 2 batts with an IR cord for IR shutter release. The D70 already has really good battery life though... and a shutter release button w/o shutter/aperture controls is sad. oh well it does make your camera look 'more cool' though. lol~ the D70 is a great camera!! thinking of getting a second as a spare body instead of upgrading to D2H

Cons:
- Almost everyone has one
- Very plasticky feel
- Dim viewfinder
- No grip
- Useful functions buried deep inside menus
- No shutter release cable

Pros:
- Great value for money (esp with Kit Lens)
- 1/500th Flash sync
- Good battery life

It's the same theory with PS what, if you zoom in then you see the problems, once you size down everything looks good.

Default Sad sad sad

WOW!!!

Didn't know there's so much flaw/dislikes in D70!!! Someone from Nikon should look into all these feedback!

Maybe, just maybe, we might be even be expecting a newer model for D70 very soon!

I just felt that althought it's same 1.8"....the viewable area is a bit smaller than my friend's A95 1.8".....maybe D70 is 6x4 and A95 is 4x3???

Or is it phychology because I paid so much more so expectation is higher?

Despite all these flaws... the D70 is still the BEST at this price range. Competition from the other camp don't even come close.

At below 2k for the D70, I think we are already getting a lot from Nikon liao.

Quite agree here... but hey, it goes to show that people know a good product when they see one.
