This is a dragonfly.

Shooting from a lower angle may help eliminate the background clutter on the ground. Maybe try and get on eye level with the dragonfly and just adjust slightly to get the least uncluttered background in the frame.

The second one is better, but part of the tail isn't in focus. The bg of the first one isn't that good, just like jason said. The last one isn't very sharp, might due to hand shake. Overall very good tries. Mine is worse actually

Cheers!

I can get the tail to be focused, I might lose the focus on the eyes or have a clear field of depth. which will cause ulgy bg

True about the hand shake, which is why I am on a look out for tripod....

Anyway.. thanks for the comments.. will try again this coming weekend.

try to compose your lens (front circle) parallel to the dragonfly to achieve wider DOF. Your object exposure is good but background can be improve. try to take it against a green area.
