Yes VR really work. I don't think I can get the same pics without VR.

I was shooting at focal length 135mm and shutter is about 1/40 with shutter piority mode.

ComB, your panning shot is much better than mine maybe share with us your technique and other members can share thiers panning technique and pic here also.

VR or IS its no substitute for a basic panning technique, which you have obviously mastered. How was your hit rate like? Did you do additional postprocess motion blur? In addition, your pictures seem a bit low on contrast, bit of grey cast. Perhaps that is the colour of the sky. Anyway, the sharpness of the subject is really good. Apply your technique to more interesting subjects and you'll have action images that can really stand out.

Totally agreed with you but in my case I still depend on the VR/IS to get a decent panning shot. Obviously I've not mastered it yet but need practise and guidance from clubsnapper especial you r32 and my shooting buddy ComB & Ixiz.

For my hit rate, I guess only 50% is acceptable the rest

For post process only did USM.

Congrates on your new investment! You can rest assured money well spent here, as many would agree with me the prove are in the pictures itself. Colors, contrast, etc and of course the functionality of the VR.

Nice panning shorts...I must say it's just fabulous dude. Look forward to seeing more panning shots....perhaps in the upcoming Sepang events???

Cheers!

I'm using a old Canon A40 P&S Cam. I shoot in manual mode by playing with the shutter speed. 1/40s is used in all the shots.
Thinking of getting a better cam, once I got the budget & skill, hehe... Seen many threads abt the Panasonic FZ20. Seems like it is a v gd buy & suit my needs.
