Bought a lens when I was in the US early last August.
I only received my rebate check in the mail yesterday (after 2 phonecalls and 1 unanswered email)! Somemore the prevailing exchange rate now is no longer anywhere near the rate at that time! Think I got the short end of the stick this time... OK lah i still my lens |

Well.. the turn around for the rebate is around 1 mth...
did u buy it from the usa, and asked them to mail u the cheque back home? perhaps that's why.. my rebate cheques normally arrive within the month, or at the most, 5 wks. |

I thought the Nikon rebate will only be sent to a US registered address. That means you can't buy from the US and get a rebate check sent to SIngapore

Nah, as long as i bought it from a physical store, Nikon will honor the rebate. What happened was that they issued the first check in September, but I never received it. When my friend made the call for me in November, they said that they will re-issue another check on condition that the previous check was not cashed in. When the second call was made in January, the customer service officer said that no second check was issued, and he will "personally see to it" that the second check be made out. Took them about a month to re-issue the check in February. What a nightmare... I lost out on exchange rate over almost half a year. But I'm glad that I did get some money back. btw, local banks here charge min. $10 comission and $4 postage back to the US in order to cash in the check. There's also an "agency" fee also for which they are unable to provide me with a quote. |

According to my friend in the US, rebate processing is generally slow ![]() I'm wondering why can't all these rebates be given by the retailer at the point of purchase, and let the retailers claim it from Nikon or whoever else that's issuing the rebate. |
