Default Pairing Tamron 90 F2.8 with D800 for portrait shoot

Instead of spending money buying a 85mm f1.8 for portrait, is this pairing appropriate for portrait shoot since i have the tamron 90 f2.8.

    Thank you.

Yeah of course, why not? The only limit is you. FYI, what is "appropriate" will depend on the desired outcome. Some people shoot at 35mm, some at 200mm, some at 50, at 85, at 90, at 135, etc etc.

I won't imagine any problems. It will definitely work.

Macro lenses are designed to be sharp, and it should not be a bad match.

And yes, you can use that lens for portraits. I have paired it with my old Nikon D70.
