Please post your 10-22 samples as I'll be going down to get either this lens or the 17-40 today.
Thanks a million! |

10-22 is the EF-S mount right? Here is mine. If I have the choice and money, I will defintely choose the 17-40L.

is the bridge bending or is it a lens distortion? or perspective distortion?
you have any comments on the lens distortion? can't really see form here but it is a very nice pic

It is the bridge itself. This is not a fish eye, so dun expect too much of the disstortion but it is cool enough on a 1.6x crop body like 20D and 300D. The quality is nice and the contrast is there, just the build of it is a bit too cheapo I find especially the focusing ring and the zoom ring.
I dun own this lens, just borrow from a frd and test shooting a couple shots. |

i too might be looking for a 16mm equivalent on digital for some indoor shots in future. 10-22 sounds like a probable candidate. thanks for sharing.

Optically, was initially not too impressed, but realised it was the 20D (also new at the time) that is inherently soft at default settings. Images from this lens are sharp and contrasty. Between the 2, I'd say 10-22, had sold my 17-40L to get it in fact. gootlah, do try a search in pbase and dpreview samples, there are a lot out there. |

i presume the max apreture for the sigma and the tamron will also be slower than canon's? idiotic of canon not to have made thier 10-22 a fixed aperture zoom.... ![]() |

nice work. could have done a area between the part where the building meet the sky to look for CA. but is does seem sharp..
that's just a few hundred away from the 17-40L.

IMO, the downside for the EF-s 10-22mm/f3.5-4.5 USM (apart from only usable on 300D, 35D & 20D) is dat its variable aperature unlike 17-40/f4L.

it's faster though at the wide end
and average out to be similar to F4. |
