zip lock plastic bag in any camera bag or
trash bag outside any camera bag.

I always bring along a trash bag.
Just in case of rain and if the ground is wet can also sit or put your stuff on it.

Waterproof is a very big word. Pelican Case and the Lowepro Dry Zone Series may the what you want. In activities in the likes of Canoeing, kayaking or whitewater rafting - these product may be good.
If you are worried about being caught in a thunderstorm, the specs may be less. A 'all weather' Lowepro bag should be sufficient for your purpose. Worked for me once when caught in heavy rain. Look for the 'AW' sign on the bag. Different bags with different sizes are available.
