Default Need help on hardware problem

can anyone advise what is wrong with my comp? I am using a samsung 710T with DVI connector and ATI 9600XT card. sometimes it works and most of the other time it turns out this way. If it works and than I do a restart the screen turns into mesh again...

I am not able to tell if the fault is :

    a. monitor
    b. monitor DVI cable
    c. Gaphic card
    d. Software conflict or corruption.

Any advise from tech gurus most welcomed.

p/s..where is Wai? Wai? Wai? I need you.....hee hee

Hardware is the most tricky problem as it's very hard to diagnose where the issue comes from, but it looks like it might be the DVI cable problem or the PCB in the LCD monitor causing the issues.

Try changing a DVI cable or use the analog cable to test and see.

Samsung offers 3 yrs warranty, if all else fails call for an exchange.

connect the LCD to another computer/notebook to see if the CPU is at fault.
Try to eliminate the LCD hardware fault first.

Did you happen to hibernate your PC or put it to standby mode?

no lei..it was working well for the last few months

I tried normal analog cable with notebook ok, now suspect either DVI cable, connector or graphic card.

do you have a spare graphic card?

Swap cards and see if the graphic card is the culprit.

most likely the graphic card. i ever encounter such problem when the fan on tha card stops spinning and resulted in overheating the chip. luckily after a while, its okay after i changed the fan.
