Took this shot of a "Pontohi" pygmy seahorse at Manado Tua last Dec 04.

Wow! This is a rare shot of a free-swimming pygmy seahorse. Were you really chasing it? Of course, the full frontal view would have been perfect but this is great already! Welll done!

I agree. Given the small size, rarity, shallow DOF and it is free swimming.

Maybe you can share with us your equipment, setting and number of shots taken. Thanks.

OT alert: the one I saw last year was green in colour at Bunekan (cannot remember which site). Seems like all pigmy seahorses come in a variety of colours, do they change colour according to environment (like octopus, cuttlefish)? Or aquire the colour from the food through time, or maybe they are born with it?

Kelvin & Eric - Thanks for yr comment

Seewhy - Equipment used : D70 in ikelite housing, 2 Inon Z-220S and 60mm Nikon Micro Lens. 1 shot taken. The pygmy swims very fast. No chance for another.

ya... swimming seahorse still can get it right....

ooh.. seems like theres so many type of pygmy around wor!!!

hmm how come i mostly saw the pinky one ar? 1st time i saw someone took this type wor...

all must be keeping their best for personal viewing only ritE?!!!! hehe..

This one is only recently discovered in Manado. But heard only 2 left. And not many guides know where to locate.

wah... icic... but only 2 left? sigh... hope i still got a chance to c them.. no photo nvr mind.. but at least can get a glimpse of them in flesh and blood i satisfied liao...
