Default People's Park Market ... eve of renovation

today is the last day People's Park Market operates before closing down for a major renovation, passed by the place and decided to take a few record shots ...

packing up ...

1.

2 stalls clearing up for the renovation to come

2.

silence fell as the lady boss watches her husband taking down the signboard

3.

an old customer having a chat with the stallholder over the coming renovation

last minute shopping and eating ...

4.

I like this the best, is this full frame?
Would be better if the reflections in the water was there.
You have improved over the weekend.
Catchlights must start charging now.

photo #1 is nice, can be better with more of the water reflection.

nope, that's not the full frame, that's cropped and bumped up a little on the curve ... the full frame one with original curve would be this ...

10.

#1 (cropped from #10) is posted more as a documentary picture, #10 was shot with the reflection in mind at low angle ... shot just beside the elevated walkway of OG where it was flooded to 2 inch deep ... i couldn't find a good angle for this shot, guess i was feeling tired to stay focussed

my favourite was #9 though for the content, the closed shop inside and the newly opened shop outside (represented by the coloured banners) and the elderly collecting cardboards ... not easy to see on a reduced size, will be much clearer on an 8R and above print

haha, yah lor, i think catchlights can start charging for bringing along understudy liao, it's a rare learning experience for photogs who never venture into the grounds of live wedding shoot.

thanks betazone, i was feeling too tired and unfocussed to find a better reflection to make the picture more meaningful, felt this reflection did not contribute much to the feeling actually so decided to crop it off ...

no problem, was near the area, so decided to go down to do some documentation after finishing some work ... the renovation received not much media attention except for the coverage on last Sunday's Lianhe Zaobao

thanks! glad you like the series , i was actually quite surprised that not many photogs went down to shoot the place last evening, this place holds so much memories for so many Singaporeans ... i guess everyone's busy

haha, going by the time and description i think you spotted me ... actually i only spotted 2 photogs, one caucasian using a prosumer camera (and his flash kept going off ... haha, that's why attracted my attention) and another near the dessert stall with an slr or dslr (too dim to figure out what model) the shots here were all shot with nikon's coolpix 4500 using M mode. cheers!

... that's very true ... actually i was wishing for the 'OMG!' look if she sees me taking a picture of her, like caught in the act (but more likely she pretend never see and shy away) ... hmmm, i'm beginning to like the picture more after your explanation, you are truly a street shoot expert

thanks, glad you like it, seems like most people prefer #1, it's not my favourite shot though ... maybe because i knew there was a better angle to this, just that i was too tired and lazy to go into the flooded courtyard ... sigh

thanks! it's actually a pity that the angle was not wide enough ... that's how i feel about this shot, wanted to get the complete signboard and background activity into the picture actually ... i felt i wasn't experienced enough when i took this, i was distracted by the constant movement of people (not forgetting the lady in the foreground kept shying away! )

best way to take this is to go in, bring up the camera at the right spot and frame in an instant, snap and go away, rather than wasting time shifting around ... i still need to brush up street shooting techniques
