Went to AH Garden this morning with only a 50mm manual lens. Saw some great macro shots w/reverse lens by magweb and Melvynyao before, but it seemed harder than what I thought.
Anyway, here are some shots I managed to get: #1 #2 #3 #4 #5 Cheers! Last edited by fengwei; 27th February 2005 at 05:37 PM. |

The first one is a very small tiny butterfly, quite hard to catch actually. I'm happy with the one I got already I got there around 10:30am, stayed there for about one hour. Saw some guys there too. A lot butterfly there today, pity I didn't bring the macro lens. Cheers! |

'Cause I used reversed lens, the lens front (back of the lens actually ) is just 10cm or less away from the targets. You can get even closer if combining with an extension tube or/and tele converter. Cheers! |

Hi Fengwei
How do you do the reverse lens setup? Do you use a lens cap on the body(drill a hole in the middle) and then super-glue the whole 50mm lens with cap reverse? One concern: will this bring dirt to the mirror? How abt a 50mm reverse glued on a 50mm std? Thanks. |

I bought a reverse adapter for Pentax mount: Just screw the thread side to my 50mm lens front side (same thread size ) , then mount the other side to the DSLR body (or extension tube, tele converter). You can find similar reverse macro ring for your Canon (assume you are using a Canon ) here:Canon Macro Reversing Ring at eBay Cheers! Last edited by fengwei; 3rd March 2005 at 06:12 PM. |

Yeah, the DOF is very shallow. I could've used smaller aparture, but the viewfinder would become much darker, hard to focus lah. Might get better result if used with another tele prime lens. Enjoy your stay there! |

Hi Fengwei
I have a 10D and 50mm 1.8 lens. Which type of macro reversing ring should I get? Thanks. |

You can try the following two: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW Just ask the sellers and see if their rings will be okay for your camera and lens. Good luck! |

1) one face of the adaptor is eos mount, the other male threaded (58mm if i remember), so you screw the coupler to the front on lens as you would for a filter, than mount the it to the body on the coupler end. problem is you lose AF and control of aperture setting. else use any manual lens (very cheap). but have to do stop down metering. 2) there was a set of reverse coupler consisting of part mentioned in (1) & a attachment to the rear of the lens. the 2 parts are connected by wires. problem faced in (1) solved. But note both (1) & (2) are not commonly found in singpore. easier way is to get close up filter or extension tube.
