I like the angle shot for the last picture. Hmmh... Those sports cars
seem to be moving at a very slow speed.

Wow... all branded sport cars with modifications... Singapore got such events anot ?

The car seems slow maybe becoz of the fast shutter or is it that they are only accelerating ? haha... anyway i loved the last pic, but it seems it's not really all in the lines ! nice pics though !

pardon me, but these look like you were testing out your camera and lenses. those shots of single cars in one photo - those can be kept for yourself. nothing special about those shots, people like us can search on any search engine and come across shots that are more exciting than one-car matches.

not a race fan myself, so maybe you might want to rethink the way you shoot. one of my good friends once told me this - if you shoot something, and you show it to people who know nothing about it and they go WOW! it means you've got something good. if the person knows nothing about the subject and they don't go WOW! then you've missed something to get their interest level up. i'm one of those in the 2nd category.

these shots were done in AU, i believe?

by the way, the shot of the first car was better than the one of the bmw. at least there's some motion blur to the wheels, which adds to some action. the shot of the bmw is almost dead still, which could make me wonder what's so interesting about a bmw that's not moving

photos are soft, lacking of sharpening. do try to figure out a basic postprocessing procedure you are comfortable with, so that people will go WOW! at the photos.

You are right abt the test of the lens ...my first time taking motion shots...

but I think you are quite weird when you say something not in motion isnt interesting..I am sure you have plenty of pics of cars not in motion? were they not interesting enough to justify some space on your camera?

Australia isnt the only other place with motorsports...

ok, so i got the location wrong....

but i was right about testing of the camera?

i do have still shots of cars when i first started to use a camera, partly because i didn't know how to shoot, and that i was at car shows where the cars were static. given the amount of sunlight, and the likely high speeds of the cars you shot - especially the near stationary shot of the bmw - i would guess it was shot around 1/1000s. if at least the shutter speed was slower, to allow some motion panning blur to the grass beside the track, it would still give an impression of speed - but if the grass seems stationary, as well as the car, the shutter speed is too fast, the car must be awfully slow, or even stationary.

that's what i mean when i compare the image of the first car to the bmw.

You maybe right abt the test of the camera, but I some what think that if I want a sensation of speed, that would be an accuarate assumption that I would shoot the way you prescribed, but I guess I have a different perspective on how I want my pictures....

The "wow" factor is a very sensitive area...some people go wow at the weirdest things...incuding pictures....

thanks for reminding me of one critical factor that may have affected you - the choice of where to shoot from. that totally skipped out of my mind, my apologies there.

in the end, whether others appreciate the pictures or not, it doesn't matter, so long as it serves to remind you that you were in the presence of these race machines on a certain day.

cheers!
