I normally buy locally but with the recent change in distributors and with them not being able to provide any info about when the Pentax K-5 II/IIS will be available in SG, I jumped when I saw that it was available from B&H. It was only after I got an order shipped email that I got a call from a local shop to tell me that the K-5 IIS will be coming in next week.

Not sure about now, in the past, prices for Pentax is really good in Sg, compared to Australia. I paid USD1299 for the camera and USD60 for postage.

Agreed... To me, the diff just needs to be ~$150, including shipping, and I'm off the support list of APD. Haha!

Not sure whether 1.22 will be the exchange rate that the bank will use if using credit card for payment. My last month purchase in USD (from ebay) was converted at 1.28 by the bank....

Yes, from past purchases, credit card rate for USD is about Forex+0.05. Total should be (1299+60)*1.28*1.07= SGD1861, $300+ difference.

The Singapore street price should be lower than RCP. I remember Challenger IMM displaying K-5 at $2099 more than 1 year ago, when stores were selling $1.6-1.7k.

Just wait for another week or two, let's see what the local market prices are when the stock comes.

It's indeed a very nice camera. I used to say K5 is more than enough to me as a dSLR camera, but after playing the K5IIs for a week, I'd say this IS enough for most users. Its image quality and low light performance can definitely be as good as those much heavier and larger full frame dSLR cameras. Plus the weather sealed body, in-body shake reduction, and excellent choice of Pentax prime lenses (DA pancakes & FA limiteds especially), you really can't go wrong w/ this one

Confirm the local price is as listed above, give or take some depending on the shop.
