Hi all,
Have always been using cameras but now like to try out 'user-friendly yet good quality for a novice' video cams to shoot my newborn and toddlers. Think the good brands around would be Sony, Canon or Panasonic. Budget up to $1400 in total. Anyone cares to give any recommendations or advice? Thanks in advance! Also found out that the cheapest around could be Canon 700 - costs only $690+GST with the recent promotion of free tripod, etc. Do you think it's worth buying? Canon 750 is $900+GST with more freebies. Regards, FOCUSNAP ![]() |

Hi,
If you don't mind, you could look around at Best Denki outlets for older stock and display sets. They are usually placed inside the glass cabinets. Some are selling for below $1000. I've seen some at the IMM, Plaza Singapura, Parkway Parade outlets. For me, I would choose a model that is top loading, where the tape is loaded from the top. This is to avoid inconvenience when using tripod. Panasonic and Canon Photo DV models are top loading. Don't buy models using MicroMV, a proprietary format by Sony which wasn't successful. Choose MiniDV ones, which form the majority of the video cameras available. |
