Default Getting close to the subject (Applying what was taught by Harlequin)

After learning some tips about how to get close to the subject by Harlequin, I draped a camo net over my head and approached a Blue-Tailed Bee-Eater with caution. I was amazed that the bugger "bo chap" me even though I got very close to it. Thank you Harlequin for the lesson.

Good one there Joe ! Glad to know that I was able to share some knowledge with you.

You'll be even more surprised if you use a car as hide. Once i had a female olive back sunbird landed on my lens hood.

Slow and steady is the right approach.

Keep shooting ! Cheers !

Thanks for the compliment. Yes the image was cropped but only the sides to make it into portrait.

Thanks, Harlequin. Any more tips? Maybe how to find those "solid" birds that you caught

Nice one there Joe, with good details. I find the backlighting a bit harsh though, but I guess can't be helped, given the bird's position. If possible, find one closer to eye level with a green background to approach (not easy I know, coz u got to hunt around for one that perch at eye level first. )

What lens are you using? Pardon me, the bokeh looks a bit disturbing. The bird came out very nice.

Thanks Garion. Yeah, I tried like crazy to get a homogeneous green BG but the tree tops in the distant BG are always below the subject. I could achieve a better BG if I back away from the subject, but then it will be too small. Maybe I should carry a ladder with me in future to get the subject at eye level

Thanks for your compliment. A sniper suit may even be better

I used the EF 300mm f/4L IS + 1.4X TC. In what way is the bokeh disturbing?
