My definition of Pro = deriving his main source of income from the work. Seriously I doubt there are that many in Singapore. People here just are not willing to pay good money for photos. To prove my point, just look in this forum how many people are looking for free volunteer photographers. A lot of the published photographers here are just "serious" hobbists. As for how much Asian Diver pays for photos, EL will be the best active forummer here to advise. Eric |

Nope, not many pros around. Even William Tan (who's been publised both in book and magazines) derives his main source of income from being a musician, not a marine photographer. It just doesn't pay enough.
To get your images published, you need to get in touch with the Scuba Publications around our region (I'm assuming that you want your images published in print and not the web). Scuba Diver Australasia, Asian Diver & FiNS are always looking out for budding photographers and writers to contribute images and stories. However, they're not paying commercial rates for these because they have quite a large pool who are willing to volunteer and shoot for very little $$, mostly just to cover cost. |

If you define "pro" as in the quality of shots rather than means of deriving income, then we have quite a number here in Singapore.
Sometime serious amateur can shoot better variety of pictures than Pro, in that they excercise more of their skill and creativity, rather than staying within the boundary trying to take shots that can sell or to meet the assignment requirements. |
