but do note that this is after all a Coolpix and cannot replace your DSLR
there are limitations to what the hardware can do but once you get to know the limitations and make the most of it
    it can do wonders.

more images to come, once i find more time
feel free to ask me questions.

some notes: it seems that the camera will rather under expose the shot than to have camera shake, it detected a long exposure, i had to change to manual mode to overcome it
the exposure compensation dial is really useful and easy to use, there is even a little light to tell you that it has been activated.
would have preferred if the battery was the same as my Nikon DSLR

I have noticed that some newer cameras can charge their battery via a USB port, this would be useful as i can carry just 1 external battery to charge all my devices or just 1 charger.

yes, Nikon must have some sort of secret formula, I would not shoot higher than ISO 360 on my D70

whats different from the P7100? faster lens, thats all i can see from the specs. great sample images btw - i used the P7100 a while back for a review on my blog, but it looks like the P7700 does a bit better...nice

i believe that all the short comings that the P7100 had, has been fixed
but now no optical viewfinder, just imagine that the rear LCD is one big viewfinder

I guess the sensor had some improvements over the P7100.

    P7700 1/1.7" CMOS BSI 12MP sensor over the P7100 1/1.7" CCD 10MP sensor.

I'm curious does the camera offer manual controls of aperture/shutter speed/exposure/audio levels during video recording?

i think removing the optical VF is a good idea - i never found much use for it on the P7100 - wonder if its a bit smaller than the P7100 because of that. anyway, seems like a good upgrade overall

Based on whats on the website:

    P7100: Approx. 116.3 x 76.9 x 48.0 mm (4.6 x 3.1 x 1.9 in.), 395 grams inclu. batt & card.

    P7700: Approx. 118.5 x 72.5 x 50.4 mm (4.7 x 2.9 x 2.0 in.), 392 grams inclu. batt & card.

Looks like the P7700 is slightly smaller in size compared to the P7100.

One of the better upgrades i would say is the swivel lcd screen which Canon has dropped from the G15.
