Default Recalibrating WB u/w

Hi, have a silly question to ask.

Read somewhere that some divers recalibrate their WB u/w to compensate for the colour as we dive deeper.

If I am shooting using a strobe, would this method be needed?

TIA

actually no.

you are already using a strobe that should give back the reds.

if you WB with the strobe on, there isn't much effect.

BUT if you WB without the strobe and den shoot with the strobe, you'll very very red pics. coz you overcompensate for the reds.

alex mustard did manual white balance with filter and had quite decent results. at very shallow depths though.

one drawback of using manual white balance, because you are telling it that the white slate which look a bit bluish underwater is white, it compensates that the water is also white instead of blue, so when you try to take wide angle, you find that your pics looks overexposed, due to the camera thinking the blue background is white.

this is what i have tried la, maybe others have a better or different opinion

hihi... thought i'm not the expert here... but i think as wat uginz says... the strobe shld help u to gain back your colour.. provided that u r not far away from yr subject... that is ok for macro..

as for wide angle.. depending on the power of yr strobe and your subject.. u still lose certain level of reds loh..

Anyway.. the best answer u can get is to do an experiment yrself...

juz remember to share w us your findings lah..

*another military discussion on paper..
