Hi Everyone, i came across your site last night and thought I would join your discussions.
I have been doing IR digital for a few years and like the type of photo it gives. i have been using an old Sony DSC 770 which gives good infrared with a B&W 093 filter. My question is, i have a spare Canon D-30 which i would like to convert to IR only. Does any know of a link to a tutorial on the conversion. I have seen the tutorials on the Nikon D-70 so there must be one out there for the Canon D-30. I would appreciate any help. also i have a link to Edmund Scientific where you can buy a ir filter but i understand that they do not work very well, any ideas where i can get a filter other than cutting up a nice B&W, if thats possible. Also how would the D-30 fare in the IR world?? If you have time , please check out my InfraRed page on my web site. all comments are most welcome. Lou Lou's InfraRed Page |

Hi Lou,
Very glad that you found this forum. I don't have the link to the Camera IR conversion, but I am sure that one of the others do. I am waiting for Java to install so have not seen your photo's yet. But I await eagerly to see posts from you. Are you able to join us on Sunday's IR outing ? Hope to see you. Cheers. ![]()

This is for 300D.. But I am sure 30D is similar
http://ghonis2.ho8.com/rebelmod.html or buy one ready made http://www.sciencecenter.net/hutech/canon.htm Note that no 30D is for sale here, could be that it is poor for IR when modified. Allan |

Canon just released the EOS 20Da ... which is modified specially for astro photography. I believe it has the IR filter removed already... see Canon Japan's site for info. The only catch is that it's only available in Japan at the moment.
That said, it may save you the pain of having your D30 converted. |
