Nice pics. Its so close up I almost feel for them looking at their expression. Feeling kinda sad for them though.

Yeah i feel sad especially for the kingfishers. They are so shy and their cage are so small.

Kingfishers should not be caged like that. I was quite sad for them too when I was there. They like the Black naped oriole are known to die when caged up. The kingfishers when approached basically try their best to fly upwards and crash their beaks into the enclosure.

Yeah, the KF aviaries are too small.

But there are actually free-flying White-collared and White-throated KFs in the Southeast Asian aviary, and a pair of Blue-breasted KFs (Halcyon malimbica, native to Africa) in the waterfall aviary. The problem is that KFs are so strongly territorial, they cannot be kept in groups. So the luckier ones got the big space.

holding a D70... mayb we have met somewhere.. haha..

Actually not only the king fishers.. the macaws, and other birds were also locked up in small cages.. How good if they were to be released out in big area like the waterfall area?

I do saw a couple of photographers.. but dunnoe who.. haha went there around 10++ and left at 1+.. I was using the a canon 300mm prime and was with my colleague.. got see me ?
