Default My best bird shot!!!

Hi guys,

Was at Botanical Gardens today with some fellow clubsnappers trying to get some bird pictures.

Although it's a common pigeon, this was the only bird that I could get close to with a 70-200 mm.

Cheers,

Hi Benny, nice crispy sharp pigeon you got there!
Can try sunbirding in SBG with your 70-200 actually. I've gotten some promising results with my 70-200 so far.

I did try that previously, but the results were miserable. But that's not the last time I'm shooting them. Still looking for suitable opportunities.

Here's a picture of a Kingfisher that I would have love to get a closer shot.

This shot is just about as far as I can crop down. What a shame....

By the way, what's this kingfisher called? Can someone be kind enough to give me the name? Thanks!

Heya benny... keep up the good work, you just need more practice. what you might wanan do is to get a 2X AFs tcon to add to your 70-200.. my guess is that it's a VR and a f/2.8 so 2 stops on ur aperture wount be a problem. u'll get a 140 - 400 reach after that! woohoo! add the 1.5x crop factor and u've got 600mm hehehe cheers!

Here's another one, but not quite there yet.

I thought it was some kind of san piper, but I'm sure there's a name for it. Anyone?

I did get a 2X, but obviously didn't have the time to put it on for these few shots. And when I did, there was nothing to shoot. I think bird photography is like fishing, need a lot of patience.

The one in the 2nd picture is a white throated kingfisher and the last one is a white-breasted waterhen.

All images were nicely exposed, #3 would be even better if it were shot at a lower angle. Good effort, keep shooting.

Good attempts there benny. I like your white-breasted waterhen shot. (#3). 2nd Fred's comments too.

Keep shooting!
