Amazingly, I found that I could actually compose through the viewfinder with the E-300 if the sunlight is bright enough.

The noise is tolerable. In fact IMO good to have some noise as it simulates the grainy effect of film IR.
Nice shots Tomcat |

Shouldn't you have used a tripod at those shutter speeds? No IS, so handholding at those shutters is imho a no-no, especially IR photography.

Hello Tomcat,
I enjoyed the perspective you've choosen for the buildings, strong presence of lines / curves yet strangely uncluttered. I find the softness in the images from the low shutterspeeds work well with the surrealistic effect of IR. Thanks for sharing. Cheers, |

Thanks for the comments. Though I would love to take full credit for the resulting looks in these IR pics as well the other holiday pics, I feel that quite a lot of it seemed to be due to the distortions at the wide-end (14mm) of the 14-45mm kit lens, especially when used in the vertical format. While such distortions would not have been very welcome in human photography, they seem to work somehow for these kind of architectural pics, especially for such huge and grand structures by exaggerating and magnifying their visual impact. Are there so much distortions at the wide end of the ZD 14-54mm lens, I wonder? With digital IR photography, there are so many factors that could affect the eventual looks of the IR pics that I feel like I'm coming full circle back to the uncertainties of film photography as I really don't know for sure what the final results would be like until I have post-processed them back at home.
