Default ...for your information.......and something to take note..

Hi....Here is something to take note pertaining to wide angle lens on the Pro SLR...

The current generation of digital cameras--including the two in our review - have image sensors that are significantly smaller than a 35mm film frame. (See The X Factor for more information on this issue.) As a result, the EOS-1D and D1x use only the center portion of the image produced by the lens. This has the effect of making the effective focal length of the lens larger than it actually is, by a factor of 1.3 on the EOS-1D and 1.5 on the Nikon D1x. While this is a boon for telephoto shooters, it is a big problem for wide angle photography.

Canon and Nikon both offer extra-wide zoom lenses to help offset the effective focal length multiplication issue. Canon makes a 16-35mm f/2.8 zoom lens, and Nikon has a 17-35mm f/2.8 lens. The Canon is an L lens, and the Nikon lens is an AF-S lens with ED glass. Both sell for around $1500 street price, and are a necessity if you plan to do any wide angle shooting with either camera.

When used on the EOS-1D (with its larger image sensor), the Canon 16-35mm lens operates like a 20.8 to 45.5 mm lens on a 35mm camera. The Nikon 17-35mm lens, when used on the D1x, provides the equivalent of a 25.5 to 52.5mm lens.
