Hi Apple users (esp those with the new Intel based ones)

Can i check if Apple can run dual OS. I am going to buy the Mini but need some XP based software like eMule, Jave VM for internet banking etc.

Does apple support? If yes, any idea how much to get Windows XP?

    Thanks

Aperture works really well for RAW conversion, tried it with 5d as well as 20d files, beautiful output.
My only beef with it is that it runs a little slow on PBs

Aperture wasn't meant to be compared to PS, it's not the same type of s/w really. While PS excels in image manipulation, Aperture's strength lies in its image management tools. It's a great tool for organising image files into a sensible and accessible layout. While it has basic tools for image editing, it is not meant to excel over PS in that regard. I do like its quick non destructive edits which allows a user to quickly see what quick and dirty edits would do for an image.

And yes, my beef is also that it runs like a snail on the PB. Might be time to consider a G5 imac.

If you want a G5 imac move fast - apparently the dealer chain is starting to purge itself of the G5 imacs. You probably don't want to be running your photo software under emulation of a G5 :-)

    New versions all round....

Glad to see my brethren here too

7% of Mac users on CS? That's not too bad. My blog gets like 40% Mac users, and about 40something % Firefox + Safari too.. though that's prob coz I write a bit about Macs, and there used to be a fairly techie crowd.

What applications do you guys use for image management, though? I don't use iPhoto anymore, am undecided on iView.

No, I don't think you will be able to install Windows XP on a Mac Mini. You can use Virtual PC though, but I don't think Virtual PC is out in Universal Binary yet (i.e. optimised for use on an Intel Mac). I think Mac OS X does support internet banking (I'm using internet banking for UOB, DBS, Citibank and Standard Chartered on Safari now with no probs). As for P2P software there are lots of Mac equivalent, so no real need to use eMule actually.

    Hope this helps.

Nothing beats Aperture in the image management department. Hardly out for more than a couple of months and it's already spawned quite a following.

Mac user signing in. Been using a Mac since 92 or so and truly owned a Mac proper(means not office one) since around 95 when I got my 7200/90.

    Never looked back since.

Ordered the Mac Mini at last with the wireless keyboard and mouse. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Wat do u mac mini owners hook it up to? Was thinking of getting the Dell 20' LCD Wide Ultrasharp series that allows for the DVI connection.

What abt speakers? How is the Harmon Kardon speakers? Are there wireless ones?

My dad's Mac Mini is hooked up to a 17" LG LCD, good enough for his needs I suppose.

Speakers he reused his old PC speakers since he isn't big on sound or fast refresh rates.
