I think Applecare is a rip off. For the $500 you have to pay for your PBook, I really don't think it's worth it, especially so with your parts and labor issue. What's the point of having additional warranty coverage when there are so many exclusions?

Mac screens are just about the best there are around... makes a so-so image look wonderful.

terence, that sounds like deceit... haa haa... coz only 7% of users can see the full glory of the picture while 92% still remain in the dark...

anyway, am using a Ti G4/800 with the screen just changed from AppleCare! lovely machine!

I've got a Lisa. Does that count ?.

Took the release of OSX to get some of the advanced OS internals back into the Mac that the Lisa had. The original Mac was a massive step backwards. Built down to a price, not a spec. (On the other hand no one but Uni CS departments ever bought Lisa's, they were far too expensive).

Stats from my blog if anyone is interested. I suspect the unusually high ratio of mac to other OS might be because of me

    Operating System:

    Windows - 76.02%
    Apple Macintosh - 21.30%
    Other - 2.14%
    Linux - 0.45%
    Unix - 0.09%

    Browser:

    Microsoft Internet Explorer - 51.72%
    Mozilla - 25.41%
    Apple - 18.36%
    Netscape Navigator - 2.50%
    Opera - 2.01%

The new MacBook Pro looks kinda interesting, the names cheesy though. Heh.
