You set your white balnce through the filter? Is your camera on auto WB when you set your WB?

After channel swapping, you may need to do some hue/saturation adjustments. But if after channel swapping and the picture is very blue, then perhaps using different values during the channel swap may help.

Why not post your unprocessed picture here for us to see or try to help process, that could save a lot of words.

Hi, From what you have, it seems like the Custom White Balance is not done correctly. The color is usually what we have when we have not use CWB.

You mentioned that you did the CWB as per Max2.8's post. D70 allows 2 different CWB to be set, one is using a picture and the other is using the "PRE" from the white balance selection.

Did you use the first? If yes, don't that does not work. You have to set the CWB using the White Balance selection from the command dial.

That red picture posted definitely indicates that CWB is not properly set.

Hope the following will can help you further:-

Setting Custom White Balance (CWB) for Infra Red. How I do it for Nikon D70.

1. Camera set to "P" mode. Fit filter (R72) onto lens. Zoom to max, on the kit lens.
2. Press WB button at back of camera and turn command dial to change WB to "PRE". View this on the top LCD.
3. Press and hold WB button at back of camera. You will notice "PRE" flashing at top LCD.
4. Point camera at a bright sunlit patch of grass, press shutter as in taking a shot.
5. If CWB is recorded in the camera's buffer, "GOOD" will show at the top LCD.
6. You're done. CWB is set for IR shooting.

There is a timer in the camera when "PRE" stops flashing in step 3. Repeat the step again by pressing and holding the WB button to get "PRE" flashing again.
So everytime you want to shoot IR, just change your WB to PRE. Once set the CWB can be used indefinitely, unless you find the colors strange and want to reset it.

Hope this helps for those who want to try IR.

This is what I get out of camera with the CWB set as I have described.

This is after levels, channel swap, hue/saturation adjustments.
