    FYI, that is why you should INSPECT the lens at the shop after buying. They can exchange if there's a fault.

    But unsealing the box, letting you test test test then you decide not to buy and the shop is stuck with an unsealed box for the next customer? what shop would do that to themselves?
    Totally understand the logic here. So, one should bring their camera system and try it on the spot after buying the NEW lens.
    Anyway, as you said, we are protected by lemon law. Even if we go home and realize that there is a defect, it is still our right to ask for exchange eh?

    What tests do you want to conduct? The basic functional tests with your cam are always possible and if you happen to find an issue then you will get an exchange on the spot. But don't expect that all 3 copies are handed over to you and you start setting up tripod and focus test chart there... A reasonable inspection is the the right and duty of customers.
