hi eric.....

is the separation of the crab in the 1st pic enough??

i had a problem with my macro shots where i don't get a good separation of the subject with the negative space.....is there some secret lighting techniques to achieve the separation?

Gong Xi Fa Cai to you too. 1st pic - yes a bit blended into e bkground, not by choice. This fellow is so small & my lens (60mm) is almost touching the urchin.

2nd pic - dpi on scanner was @ the wrong setting.A bit miss Q sometime.

h20 - hi eric.....

is the separation of the crab in the 1st pic enough?? - not enough..if oni I was using the 105mm.

i had a problem with my macro shots where i don't get a good separation of the subject with the negative space.....is there some secret lighting techniques to achieve the separation? - This gonna be hard to explain in words. try twin strobes with f22,32,64 - strobe angle must be spot-on your subject.

err, ummm, and having a good dive guide helps too - despite the fact that these crabs and shrimps are all over the place up there.

Oh yes, that's true. If you have a dive guide to yourself that is always the best. But for me I like to wonder off alone to a quiet corner & stay there. During this trip the DG took the rest of the people to see other stuffs, after 50mins he came back I was still near the place where we 1st descended.

Next dive....back to Manado.
