Interesting why you recon D600 not entry level FX? Based on Pricing? Specs? User Knowledge?
Photography? It's all in your mind...

    S$1800
    Lesser weight

Can take away motor and video to achieve above.

A FX that D90, D7000 owners will go for it with no hesitations.

    Take away motor?

IDK leh, even 2nd hand D700 also not selling at $1800.. how can a new FX sell a $1800? Abit difficult from Nikon POV leh.. unless like I said, FX in a Canon 1100D kind of body and spec? D:

Try this for size : D700 fx sensor jam into a D3000 body (without all bells & whistle)

of course with nikon warranty that all in-nerds will not spill out .

eventually they will. but not now.

putting a FF at $1800 will price everything else out of the market. how will Nikon sell their aps-c, mirrorless, etc? and with d600 just launched to fill the gap between d800 & d400, the timing is certainly not good.

for consumers nothing we can do now

frankly why would entry level users want a FF sensor? for those on a shoe string, even if can buy a FF cheap, still need to get decent FX lenses to maximise the potential of the FF sensor.

Entry level FX would be a digital equivalent to the cheapest film SLR Nikon sold 15 years ago. The lens situation hasn't changed since then.

Luckily Nikon have some really good and cheap primes. Same cant be said for zooms though.

But Nikon never given up of AF-D & Ai-S lens..

Entry level FX should be priced at $1,000.

Anyways, if you have 3 grades of product, Good, Better and Best (according to your consumers), even if Good costs $300, Better costs $400, Best costs $500...

Do you think you will price Good at $400, Better at $500, Best at $600?

Nahhhhhhhh... You'd squeeze them consumers for all it's worth. If Good is priced at $500, companies will probably price Better at $800 and Best at $3,000. That's natural.

IMHO, FX never meant to be for entry level
That's the segment for DX cam..

Nah, eventually MF will be the new FX.

Technology is technology. It tends to move.

yes I agree with u on this. for entry level, d3200 with decent dx lenses probably gives better output than entry level FF with low cost fx lenses.
