As I rarely use tripods, I got the nikon tripod (the one given away free during the recent IT show upon D70 purchase) for S$70, since I got my cam months earlier.

At this price, it is the best value for money compared to any other tripod that is within the S$100 budget in terms of quality.

    Default Tripod Recommendations

Currently I'm using a Manfrotto 714B. Built quality wise.... I'm pretty happy with it. I find that I prefer those pan head more than a ball(or ball-like) head. Also, it's a bit too long when folded for my liking... Reason being, when I go travelling, i like bring only a *small* daypack, and the 714B doesn't fit into my small daypack. Yes I have a bigger backpack that will fit the tripod, but it attracts too much attention. I've read all your comments, and I understand that bigger/heavier tripod is better, but no point if the big heavy tripod stays in the car/house because lazy/weak me dun want to lug it around.

    my criterias
Load Capacity = 2kg to infinity (I dun currently own, but will be buying a 20D.. no long lenses, but i think 2kg is an ok weight. if you think i can survive on 1.5kg, then please recommend too)
Max Height = 1m or more.. of course the higher the better
Folded Length = 40cm or less
Cost = Dun think I have many choices left... so lets forget about the cost part first....

I'm looking at Manfrottot 714SHB and the Slik Sprint Mini. Will anyone comment on these two tripods, or if there are other tripods out there that I should be looking at, do let me know too. Thanks!

P.S ClubSnap is really addictive... Makes you just want to buy more and more stuff..... grrr..

Default Where to find Velbon Chaser EFL-4

Anyone knows where can I find the Velbon Chaser EFL-4 in Singapore? I'm thinking of getting either this or the Slik Sprint Pro as a travel tripod.

i using Gitzo, Manfrotto as back-up.

both weigh abt 2.4kg w/ Foba M1 (head) on Gitzo, & Manfrotto pan-n-tilt (head) on Manfrotto.

Manfrotto 055 with 168 ball head
Manfrotto 190B with 168 ball head
Manfrotto 134B monopod with cullman ball head

Also have a small Gitzo and a small Cullman.

Find the 190B most practical for move around photography, in terms of weight and stability. I bought mine from Germany ( was traveling and my first 190 gave way there ) and this unit has a quick release lock and not the screw type like my first 190 which was bought in Singapore.

I use Benro and Gitzo, and find Benro good enough and they are a very good replica of the Gitzo's.......I have both the Carbon fiber and aluminium versions: Benro A 328 and C428, and Gitzo G1228 mkII G,

Benro is good value for money! No more Gitzo for me! There are apparently two series of Benro: cheap black series and an almost 100% copy of the Gitzo's, I am talking about the latter ones........

And at almost half the price of their Gitzo equivalent!
