Hi
i really like this one! not only did you catch the moment, but the light was just in the right place, attenuating the waves and sidelighting the person in the foreground (both giving the picture a 3D effect), and the silhouetted exposure of the players was right in conveying the mood of the shot. the way the waves arc diagonally across the frame and curves inwards gives the picture a dynamism that matches the activity protrayed. nice composition! |

wolfgang, i think the shot is okay. no doubt it captures the moment, esp the spray of water and the ball in mid-air is a very nice shot. but the effect of the colours and contrast (to me) seem to down-play the event.
did u take pics from another angle say perpendicular to the beach / waves? or from the other angle which is diagonal to the setting sun? maybe the colours & play of light would brighten the pic. maybe capturing more reflection from the water splashs? if u did, mind sharing those? i understand of course that the 'moment' may not present itself again tho'. but well the above are just my thoughts. oh one other thing... is that exhaust from a ship, probably from a ferry. it is in the background and is just behind the ridge - if u look closely its exactly 'above' the ball. btw hope u had a good tan on that day ![]() Last edited by pyre; 23rd August 2002 at 07:57 AM. |

Nice... like the lighting-- gives that sunset-by-the-beach feel.
