Hi, I have just bought the C8080 camera a few months ago. I am looking forward to purchase the casing in April as the diving season is starting. Seems that this camera does not perform up to expectation underwater? Any advice? Should I purchase the underwater casing?

Welcome to UWCS!
First read this: http://wetpixel.com/PNphpBB2-viewtop...ht-c8080.phtml and http://wetpixel.com/PNphpBB2-viewtop...ht-c8080.phtml I am pretty sure C-8080 CAN produce stunning images, like the C-5050 and C-5060. The main diff btw the Oly housing and Ikelite Housing (other than price) is the TTL capability via a syn cord. U hv to determine yourself whether this capability is worth the extra money. Perviously, the price diff btw a Oly and Ikelite housing for the C-50x0 series is rather large, somethign like 3 for the price of 1. Subsequently, the cameras get more and more massive and the price diff has an inversely proportional relationship. I would go for the Ikelite is the price diff is not that much. Call Oceanic Focus and tell him u r from Clubsnap. Apparently he has "special price" for poor souls here. There is also Scubacam here in Singapore and you are welcome to check prices. You will have more fun after deciding on the housing - Strobe selection. There are 4 common strobes we use here, and that is just the no. of difff manufacturers (Ikelite, S&S, Inon, Sunpak). We haven't gone down to the various models. Eric |
