im on the opposite with you. im thinking of getting the nikon 24-85VR to replace my tamron 28-75 (im using D700 by the way, sorry for off-topic camera body.hehe)
24mm on the wide end for landscapes. and i think the 85mm @ F4.5 or F5.6 can still give good bokeh and subject separation for portraits on FX sensor..

    plus the benefits of VR...

    still thinking...

That is the AF-S Non-VR version, which is quite old.

I am currently using Tamron non VC (DX), and I am pretty fine without VR for such zoom range. Yes, VR definitely helps and is a plus point..
haiz, care to share any bad points with using 28-75mm? At least get me prepared.

Why do you want to change? They are different beasts. D7000 is Dx mode whereas D600 is FX. If you have a lot of legacy film lenses or need low light sensitivity (the D7000 high iso performance is quite good), go FX. If not or you shoot wildlife & nature (where longer focal lengths are an advantage) remain with DX. If you dont fall into any of these categories then keep your D7000 & invest the money in getting an extra lens or a good tripod or a photo trip.

Have been buying from Adorama & B&H for last 13 years. Never had a problem. Very reliable & excellent customer service.

I've pulled off and reapplied successfully. I just pulled gently and let it peel off slowly.

I fully agree. The 70-300VR is one of the best value lens that I have used. It shares equal amount of time on my camera as other lens.

I have been contemplating changing it to the f2.8 version, but everytime I review my pics, I cannot bring myself to do it just yet. It pairs very well with the D600 with it's weight too, and I can bring it out daily without hesitation.

Glad that I bought this lens. If you do not use in in the dark often, it is a good lens for reach.

I got it at a good price, only $670 compared with the street shop at $840. Really value for money.

Just some sharing on the D600 dust. Appears that my dust doesn't seem to be those stubborn ones that was reported in the earlier stages. I was on about 600 shots and my compressed air blower managed to blow them off and now it's dustless.

Anyways, bought a copy of the Tamron 24-70 VC and here's a sample pic (full resolution available). Shot on ISO640, f/2.8 and 1/500s @ 70mm. Full size can be seen from flickr :
