    i would say... the right tools for what you want to do.

    i have:

    an FF DSLR
    a Mirrorless Compact
    a few PnS cameras lying around
    a few film cameras lying around
    an Instax Mini
    and a few mobile phones with cameras.

    ultimately it's what i have at the moment, or what i plan to achieve that will decide what i'll use.

    time to take a well deserved big leapfrog jump and upgrade to a present day compact

    (this is going to be at least a 4 generation leapfrog for you .... huge savings as technology has taken a few big steps since and prices have moved lower )
    Yeah, the S10 is quite old for a digital camera...but it's still got many features I love that NO other camera has:

    --> a swivel body
    --> pocketable camera, yet with 38-380mm zoom

    I spend my money on dslr gear these days...though today I learnt of the Sony RX100, and that sounds pretty good..worth looking at when I have 1 grand free.

    While I wait for the tech to progress and stabilise again for small, yet lightweight larger sensor compact size cameras, like the dslr's did a couple of years ago, I'll stick with the S10 and mobile phone for now, if I need to go light weight!
