Default Chinese New Year at Sengkang Combined Temple

some less than satisfactory shots ... the rest who were there just now have much better shots, look forward to seeing them, for now here's my below average shots ...

the combined temple along Rivervale Drive

at Kampung Tengah Thian Hou Gong ...

devotees slipping in and out of their footwear as they move in and out of the temple

making some quick wishes for the new year

offerings of joss sticks with joss papers rolled together

over at Chong Yi Temple next door ...

the rush of devotees after the formal opening of the temple doors (this temple is dramatically dimmer and less warm in the lightings compared to Thian Hou Gong, thus explaining the sudden change in 'temperature' of the pictures)

Some of my shots...

Devotees waiting to put in the first joss-stick when the clock strikes at 12 (well...almost).

The God of Fortune leading the rush into the temple...

"I pray that everyone has a peaceful and prosperous new year, and that my grades will be good..."

must've been a difficult shoot. find that #2 and #3 have too much yellow cast? Maybe need a bit of WB tuning

Other than that #2 is an interesting perspective. #4 I like - abstract but drives home the theme

haha, thanks, but i need more practice with this kind of event ... yes i agree too much yellow liao, actually i should have metered my white balance properly, but instead i switched to the 'cloudy' white balance (the other options turned out purplish ) still should not have used it it's a learning experience nonetheless

i saw HotSpots trying to take #4, so i conveniently switched to the macro mode on my CP4500 to take that one, thanks to HotSpots for that moment of inspiration

i think poohbear's shot #2 very well taken also, i saw how difficult it was to do that ... too bad i don't how to do that on my F80, so didn't try (time to RTFM again! haha)

all my shots were taken with the help of a monopod and flash
BTW the D70's auto WB does not work well.

hmmm ... the red colour does seem abit washed out (add: then again could be my screen) , but still i think better than my overly warm yellowish pictures, hehe
