What happened there? An accident or intentional blaze?

BTW, nice firework pics. Pity I didn't go, too tired I guess.

Thanks for sharing.

I think the wind was blowing at the wrong direction... the fireworks suppose to fall into the water, but the strong wind blew them back to the firing ground....

And I think that was the first time a firing ground caught fire in Singapore History...

Think i remember seeing the 3 of you. I was towards the right side of the bridge nearer to the fun fair ground just above the waters.

I tried using f11 @ 4s. Also tried a few 3s but felt that required precise timing.

The command centre probably didn't calculate the wind direction when they started the firing or could be the wind suddenly changed directions. Fortunately the command station was position quite far behind or else they would barbecued for sure.

Another good spot you might want to consider is at the ground level along the Marina bay, where you ate the Taiwan pizza yesterday. From that angle the fireworks would be facing you (as you will be on the side of the VIPs). Also, there will be less wind and certainly no ground vibration at the bay as compared to the sheares bridge.

surprisingly... actually yesterday it wasn't quite pack with people, not only photographers, but the general public seems to be lesser as well...

Few reasons:
1) Working OT to clear outstanding works before Long Holidays...
2) Wife ask them to go home to help spring cleaning...
3) Got to do last min shopping for CNY Reunion Dinner & Goodies...
4) Publicity wasn't too well for last night Launch of River Ang Bao...
5) People assume, since 1st of Jan no fireworks, there might not be fireworks for CNY as well....

Just some crazy thoughts....
Cheers & Happy CNY.

the next one at river hongbao is gonna be on the 23rd.

http://www.visitsingapore.com/cny/singapore.htm
Visitors will also be treated to spectacular firework displays on the opening night (7 February 2005) and closing night (23 February 2005).

tonight's is at chinatown
http://www.visitsingapore.com/cny/chinatown.htm
Come on the eve of Chinese New Year (Feb 8), and join throngs of merrymakers as the countdown to Chinese New Year begins in full force.

At the stroke of midnight, drink to a rousing display of firecrackers, fireworks and pyrotechnics as Chinatown ushers in the Year of the Rooster. Then, party on into the wee hours of the New Year!

There will be fireworks at both River Hongbao Marina Promenade as well as Chinatown tonight at 12AM.

The Chinatown ones are not really suitable for photography.....damn packed. Cannot even setup tripod for nuts without someone bumping into you. And it will be low-level pyrotechnics + fireworks.

Tomorrow night 9.30pm River Hongbao also has fireworks. Can check out today's Home Pg 5 Straits Times.
