i was the pioneer batch of reshelling at Stereo. wow looking back it has been more than 3 years already. it's my only earphones and still going strong.

Sorry to continue the diversion, but where and how much to get custom-made earmoulds? And are they sound-proof, ie. do they leak sounds?

I already use hearing aids with custom earmoulds (hard plastic type), so I am ok with the "feel". Problem for me is I need to turn volume way up when I listen to music and most ear/headphones leak too much sound, which disturbs others nearby.

    Thanks!

And.. I think I'll snap up a 2nd-hand DA40 XS when it appears. Tempting!

Hi,for the question to the customs in-ear monitor..The customs will be molded to the shape of your ear canals as you can see from the picture by hellfire88,So you can be sure that the sound leaking is kept at minimal and also with the custom earpiece,i find that the volume is generally louder as the earpiece is inserted fully into the canal, nearer to your eardrum.

There is 2 type of customs available in the market currently if my information is still updated..Full customs which you can get from the website/local shop like stereo electronic, jaben. Here is some of the example for the full customs, which mean it is a custom earpiece to start with and not reshelling of normal earpiece to a customs.

Custom In-Ear Monitors | In Ear Monitor | JH Audio

And also this is the link that reshelling can be done with our local group, audiohub. The prices are stated clearly but first off,you must have a earpiece that you like and want to reshell it into customs,if not you are better off with the full customs straight away as rehselled iem to customs does not mean that you will like the sound since it is reshelled in a custom, the casing changed will affect the sound changes to me,some of my friend like the sound after reshelling while some regretted reshelling their unless the earpiece got broken, then reshelling is a better option if you want to save the earpiece that you love..

Thanks. Never tried d-jays, but my nephew got a pair of a-jays two, well, to be honest I don't like the sound much. I've tried a few pairs of good ones, end up keeping a Westone UM2 RC

Thanks, JK. Composition wise, I would have prefer to capture more of the shops at the lower half, and less of the sky. But it's a 60mm equivalent ...

About to start a K-01 with 40XS/18-55 appreciation thread.

It's a 4 image stitch I think. ISO 200 (didn't go lowest), Between F10-13, 25-30s exposure each shot. Sure need to touch up - The lights from the building were way too bright, I had to recover some highlights at the bottom right corner. I adjusted contrast, white balance, and increase a wee bit of saturation. Also applied NR from Lightroom since I took out the in-camera NR option. And of course, going to CS4 to resize and add border.

Yeah, agree. Its kind of chopped off at the bottom in this fov.
But thats how it is for prime lens users, I guess.
We try to get the best with the FL we carried for the day.

Oh! Welcome back to Pentax too with your K01.

Question Re: Images from Pentax SMC Pentax-DA 1:2.8 40mm XS

Greetings to the group and thanks for accepting me,

I have a specific question for this thread. It's quite clear that the Pentax-DA 1:2.8 40mm XS offers full 35mm frame coverage. My question is if this also applies to the Pentax-DA 1:2.8 40mm Limited? I need a very quick answer so as to know if I should get the Ltd. version at a very attractive price. I purchase only lenses that offer 35mm frame coverage as I still shoot film (Pentax pZ-1P) as well as digital and am hopefully awaiting the rumored K-3 which would immediately be on my must-have list.

I have a list of current Pentax lenses which do offer FF coverage even though some are listed as DA.

"Pentax lenses officially listed as FF currently in production:
    FA 31 f/1.8
    FA 35 f/2
    DA 40 f/2.8
    FA 43 f/1.9
    FA 50 f/1.4
    DFA 50 f/2.8 macro
    FA 77 f/1.8
    DFA 100mm f/2.8 macro WR

Pentax lenses that cover FF format (patent+test)
without any flaw, currently in production,
    but listed as APS-C:

    DA 35mm f/2.4
    DA 40mm f/2.8 XS
    DA 50mm f/1.8 (not 100% about this)
    DA* 55mm f/1.4
    DA 70mm f/2.4
    DA* 200mm f/2.8
    DA* 60-250mm f/4
    DA* 300mm f/4

The DA 40 is unclear as it is listed twice, once as unspecified and the second time as the XS version.

+ usable starting at f/4~f/5.6, with no or a small loss in corner IQ only
