    Thanks for the clarification Rashkae. Either way it's a pain. And the reason why I refuse to change to the retina MBP is because of the soldered on RAM. Bloody annoying.

    On my company's mainframe, we can't buy hdd from anybody else except IBM eventhough we know it's a Hitachi scsi drive....apparently the firmware of the drive is customized for the machine.....so my suggestion is its better u test it out in the shop to make sure it can detect by ur mac

    Will google around to find some expert mac repair shop and let them so their thing.
